Our mission?

Our mission is simple but ambitious: to accurately map air quality in Belgian cities and implement practical solutions to improve it.

Thanks to the collaboration between Airscan, Belfius, local authorities and citizens, we are creating a movement for cleaner air.

The challenges of air pollution

Air pollution is not just an environmental problem, it is a serious threat to our health and our economy.

It is responsible for numerous respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, reducing not only quality of life but also productivity.

Our approach

Diagnosis

We are deploying a network of intelligent sensors in each participating city.

These sensors collect real-time data on the main atmospheric pollutants, enabling us to create a detailed map of air quality.

Action

By analysing the data collected, we draw up personalised action plans with each city.

These plans can include awareness-raising, workshops, soft mobility strategies, the creation of low-emission zones, optimising traffic flows, increasing green spaces, etc.

Evaluation

We continuously monitor the impact of our actions, adjusting our strategies according to the results obtained.

This step-by-step approach guarantees constant improvement in air quality.

Technologies

Intelligent sensors

Our latest-generation sensors measure levels of fine particles (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and other key pollutants in real time. Compact and autonomous, they can be installed anywhere in the city.

The data collected is analysed by state-of-the-art AI algorithms hosted on a secure cloud platform. This technology enables us to predict pollution peaks and optimise our actions.

The wind rose identifies the origin of pollutants by cross-referencing wind direction with measured pollution levels. It thus helps to identify the main sources and to better understand the dispersion of pollutants in the city.

Involving citizens

Widget

Our widget integrates perfectly with the local authority’s website.

It allows citizens to check air quality in real time, and receive alerts and advice about air quality in their city.

We regularly organise workshops, conferences and events to raise public awareness of air quality issues and the actions that make a difference every day.

Expertise

Airscan brings crucial expertise to the Pure Cities project thanks to its many years of experience in the field of air quality:

State-of-the-art technology

Airscan uses intelligent sensors and advanced algorithms to measure and analyse pollution levels in real time.

Analysis and modelling

Using analysis and modelling tools, Airscan identifies sources of pollution and proposes solutions tailored to the specific needs of towns and cities.

Tailor-made solutions

Airscan designs customised action plans for each city, drawing on its expertise in indoor and outdoor air quality.

analyze

Holistic approach

Airscan adopts a comprehensive methodology: analyse, improve, report. This approach guarantees an in-depth understanding of the situation, the implementation of concrete solutions and rigorous monitoring of results.

Participating Cities

The Pure Cities project, an initiative of Airscan and Belfius, aims to map, inform and transform Belgian cities in order to improve air quality and foster a healthier, more dynamic and sustainable future for all residents.
